Guiding You Both
Helping a loved one make the decision to move to a Life Plan community can be complex and emotionally charged. Collington is here to support you and the ones you love as you consider the move.
As you consider housing options for a parent or loved one, you may have very different concerns: they may be more concerned about residency options and amenities, while you ask questions about the type of care and security measures available. At a Life Plan community, formerly known as a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), you’ll both get what you need. Your loved one will have access to dynamic amenities and the benefits of a vibrant community. You’ll have peace of mind knowing that as their needs change, they can transition seamlessly into care in a familiar environment. Collington enables you to choose from a spectrum of lifestyle options from independent living through assisted living and memory support.
Understanding Your Options
At Collington, you’ll find a community that values curiosity and engagement at every level of living. Depending on your loved one’s level of independence and need for assistance, you can find the right lifestyle option for today — and tomorrow.

CONVERSATIONS
Making the Decision Together
Discussing a move to a Life Plan community can be fraught with feelings. It’s hard to address your loved one’s diminishing abilities, or concerns for their safety – and even harder for them to accept. Before you start the conversation, be sure to research and understand your options, including a few specific communities in your area. Prepare by detailing your concerns and how moving to a community will address them – as well as any other benefits. Approach the subject when you’re calm and try to keep emotions in check. Listen to your loved one’s concerns, remembering that while you’ve prepared for the conversation, they may be caught off guard. Giving them time to process will help them accept that you are speaking from a place of love. Finally, be patient and recognize that this conversation is first in an ongoing dialogue that will help them embrace change.
