Ann Gillespie

Chief Executive Officer

Ann Gillespie has more than 30 years of experience as an aging-services professional. She started her career with the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, where she worked on initiatives in federal senior housing, and employment legislation. After four years on Capitol Hill, Ann was recruited by leaders in the Continuing Care field to serve as the founding executive of the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC). Along with providers, hundreds of peer volunteers and other stakeholders, she led the transformation of the field to become self-regulated and fiscally prudent by reducing the potential for federal oversight while increasing confidence and trust on the part of consumers, lenders and regulators. After 15 years leading CCAC, Ann was appointed Senior Vice President for Shared Learning and Leadership of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (now LeadingAge). Notably in that role, Ann established the Association’s Leadership Academy and served as a trusted adviser to its CEO senior living systems network.

Ann joined Asbury Communities as its Chief Strategy Officer in 2012 where she was responsible for the development and oversight of the organization’s strategy, positioning the system for the health care reform environment, as well as the expansion of new business lines that included home and community-based services. Before accepting her role at Collington, she served as a strategic consultant and adviser for clients in the government, private and not-for-profit sectors in the Washington, D.C., region. Ann is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and the recipient of that University’s Scripps Gerontology Center’s Cottrell Distinguished Award for Scholarship, Leadership and Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Aging.

Justin G. Reaves

Mr. Reaves is a strategic financial and operational healthcare leader with over 14 years of experience leading and partnering with clients, internal departments, Board of Directors and senior management to develop strategies and implement solutions focused towards driving growth and achieving performance goals. He has demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to analyze financial performance and business operations while implementing financial controls and processes with emphasis on productivity improvement and driving results. Mr. Reaves has a wealth of progressive experience in corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, process analysis, strategy development, accounting and operational excellence. Mr. Reaves leverages his solid leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with all levels of staff, management, and external parties. He focuses consistently on delivering positive experiences to strengthen relationships, build loyalty and drive growth.

Justin attended Towson University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Georgetown University, McDonough School of Business. Mr. Reaves was most recently the Director of Finance at Greenspring Village, a 2,000 resident Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) providing independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, inpatient, outpatient, home support, certified home health and hospice services. He was responsible for leading a team tasked with the development, implementation, monitoring and execution of the community’s operating and capital expenditure budgets. During his tenure, Justin successfully implemented financial and operational strategies to reach financial goals and key performance metrics.

Megan Barbour

Chief Operating Officer

Megan has worked within the long-term care field for over 10 years and is passionate about person-centered care and providing a navigational-holistic life plan approach to aging adults. Megan came to Collington from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, where she worked as the Executive Director for Redstone Highlands Presbyterian SeniorCare Greensburg campus. During her time at Redstone, Megan was selected into the LeadingAgePA Fellows Program, was an active member of VOICE (formerly the PA Culture Change Coalition) and the PA HealthCare Council. Megan is an Eden Alternative Mentor and presented at the 2014 7th annual Eden Alternative International Conference in Nashville.

In addition, Megan has served aging adults through her roles as Nursing Home Administrator for Quality Life Service’s Henry Clay Villa community, Human Resource Director for Quality Life Service’s Countryside Convalescent Home, and Human Resource Specialist for Presbyterian Senior Care at Oakmont. Megan also served as Human Resource Director and completed her Administrator-in-Training program at Woodlands Retirement Community in Huntington, West Virginia.

Megan attended Marshall University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations, as well as a Master of Science in Human Resource Management.

Megan enjoys running and has completed 12 half marathons, one full marathon and the 2016 Ohio 70.3 Half Ironman Triathlon. It is a goal of Megan’s to run a half marathon in each state and to one day complete a full Ironman Triathlon.

Sandy Short

Director of Sales and Marketing

During her first eight years at Collington, Sandy played a leading role in boosting occupancy from 67% in 2011 to 96.9% sold occupancy in 2019. In her previous role as Outreach Marketing Manager at Collington, Sandy led the community’s outreach to the University of Maryland School of Music, Heritage Harbor, Capitol Hill Village and many churches and civic groups. Before joining Collington’s marketing team in 2011, Sandy gained more than 20 years of experience in sales, including serving as Regional Director of Sales and Marketing in the staffing industry, running three offices in the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore markets.

Christian Taylor Ramsey

Director of Hospitality Services

Christian is skilled culinary professional known for his comprehensive knowledge of multiple cuisines and an innovative approach to setting the stage for a customized dining experience. He has more than 10 years’ experience with kitchen operations and staff supervision and has previously served as an executive chef and manager for restaurants and as a cook and purchasing agent for Westminster-Canterbury retirement community in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Christian has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in food service management from the Culinary Institute of Virginia.

Brenda Ables

Human Resources Director

Brenda Ables brings extensive experience in developing training programs, benefits management, organization and communication and employee-management relations to her role as HR Director at Collington. She describes herself as “a results-driven professional with proven ability to orchestrate, implement and monitor all phases of human resources administration, while coordinating the team’s efforts to ensure daily operations are conducted with the highest quality service.” Brenda graduated from Hofstra University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and earned an MBA, with a concentration in human resources and personnel management, at Adelphi University. Before coming to Collington, she worked as HR director for a federal government contractor with 400 employees and for a property management company in Rockville, Maryland, with 70 employees.
